What is a cardiac Electrophysiologist

A cardiac electrophysiologist is a Cardiologist that has additional years of training to specialize in the electrical activity of your heart. An electrophysiologist, or cardiac EP, is a healthcare provider who treats heart-rhythm problems.

Cardiac electrophysiologists focus on your heart's timing, or electrical, system and on diagnosing and treating irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias.

Electrophysiologists are qualified to perform special tests of your heart's electrical system, such as an electrophysiology study or an ablation.

An electrophysiology(EP) study is a test performed to assess your heart's electrical system or activity and is used to diagnose abnormal heartbeats or arrhythmia. The test is performed by inserting catheters and then wire electrodes, which measure electrical activity, through blood vessels that enter the heart.
